Integrity Is Good For One's Soul. A Poem

I thought I knew them
I thought they were honest.
I believed their stories
I believed their promises.

But far from it!
The truth when it came
Was like a shock!
I was a fool.
I was so gullible.
It makes me wonder
If they were laughing
At me all along.

Betrayal stings!
You tell me
It doesn't?
I guess one has
To care first
Build up a rapport.
I wish I could change
One person from
Being a lying
Inconsiderate jerk.
Let them see
That life is too short
And integrity Is good
For one's soul.
